How does the Plant Paradox diet work with slow thyroid and adrenal glands? I have this plus celiac disease.
Was there an answer to this question? I have the same combination of issues – hypothyroid and celiac. Thank you.
Dr. Gundry, I am 63 years old and have been on HRT since 1993 when I had a complete hysterectomy. I have used a number of HRT methods trying to get the right balance for my body. About 5 years ago, I started using bioidenticals compounded at my local pharmacy. It is a troche that I place under my tongue every morning which consists of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. I get regular checkups and bloodwork to make sure that the levels of hormones are in balance with each other and one is not dominate over the other. My GYN for 30 years was convinced that women need to continue hormone treatment for the rest of their lives in order to stay mentally and physically healthy. He once gave me the analysis that if you walked the halls of a nursing home and looked at all the women there, the ones that were suffering from dementia didn’t really have an onset of Alzheimer’s disease or real dementia, they were suffering from the lack of hormones. So as a result of his insistence, I have continued my HRT. I do suffer from hotflashes from time to time if my compound is not correctly balanced and they can be terrible. The way I take mine is that I pretend that I am on my menstrual cycle and take the troche 3 weeks and skip a week as though I am having a period. This way it gets the hormones out of my system for a week and I start all over again. I would like your take on this type of HRT.
For the most part, I am a healthy 63 year old lady. Height 5’ 1’’, weight 122lbs, BP runs 110/67, Glucose 84mg/dL, Triglycerides 71mg/dL, HDL Chol 70mg/dL, LDL Chol 133mg/dL, Non-HDL Chol 147mg/dL, Cholesterol 217mg/dL. I realize that my Cholesterol is a little high but this is a genetic trait in that the majority of the women in my family have very high cholesterol and live to be in their late 80’s to mid 90’s.
I purchased your book the Plant Paradox and the cook book as well. I do like this way of eating as my husband I have always tried to eat healthy. There hasn’t been that much of a change to our eating plan with the exception of the beans. We do enjoys beans and I am trying your methods of preparation and am getting used to your way of cooking them. I’m not much of a sweet eater, but breads are my downfall. If only I could perfect a bread that was desirable to the pallet!
Thank you for all you are doing to try and make us more healthy and conscious of what we eat. In my husbands practice we see so much obesity which is very disturbing us. Fast Foods are killing so many people and they don’t even realize it. I wish everyone could get “tuned in” to what you are practicing. I was amazed at your story in the beginning about your former patient Big Ed. Truly amazing what was discovered and how he was able to transform his body so quickly. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next podcast!
Blessings, Laurie Cannon

I grew up on fresh grown Yams! I’ll be sure to locate some in my city.
I’m now 52 and struck down with anxiety. I have purchased your total restore and pro biotics . I’d really like to go off Zoloft as my weight has increased by 10 kg since going onto this drug. I’m not sure what this is in pounds.
Any suggestions for anxiety?
I would love to know if I would ruin the plant paradox program by not eating onions? I was so excited to be all on board … until I read that so many (definitely the majority) of recipes call for healthy (pun intended) quantities of onion. I JUST DO NOT LIKE ONIONS AHHHH….. Thank you for listening.
I really appreciate this post. I’ve been looking all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on this blog . You have made my day! I think this is engaging and eye-opening material. Thank you so much for caring about your content and your readers.
I am a senior in my 80’s and now living alone. My sleep has always been poor and it worsened when I was caregiver to my dear sister, who was so sick with so many complicated problems. Stress was high and sleeplessness was the norm.
Earlier on I asked the doctor about bio identical hormones, as I read they are a help with lessening stress and promoting calm, and hopefully sleep. I was put on low doses of Estriole for the vagina and progesterone. It seemed to help but am still trying to get a good night’s sleep.
I want to continue taking bio identical replacements in low doses. I have a benign tumour in my right kidney and I HAD a benign cyst in the left breast, possibly gone. The doctor reassured me it’s a low dose.
What do you think?
Thank you Dr Gundry! Love this podcast
