Dr. Gundry: A fast…where you can still eat? (5-day vegan fast) | Ep 104
Can fasting help you live a longer, healthier life?
According to a growing amount of research, it can.
Best of all, just about ANYONE can do it.

That was so great. I am inspired to give that vegan fast a go next week and get your latest book,’Energy Paradox’
Thanks so much!
Great podcast! Your intelligence is astounding Dr G. Love listening to you and learning.
Great show! I just learned about Blue Zones last week and love that your podcast touched on this topic too. Thank you fro share the research results!
Thanks Steven, this was a fascinating episode. I read, and loved, the Longevity Paradox earlier this year and started adapting my diet accordingly. Currently I fast 16 hours a day, but am keen to start the 5 day vegan fast once a month on top of this. My question, as someone is who is very active, should I restrict my exercise on the days of the fast? I am 37 years old, 190cm and weigh about 92kg, I do a lot of weight based exercising, on top of cycling and yoga (according to my fitness tracker I burn an average of 3,800kcal a day) and have always followed the mantra of requiring protein for recovery (often a vegan or fish source). So curious if I need to take a little break over the 5 days?
I’m already excited for the Energy Paradox
Thanks always
Hi Dr Gundry, thanks for this podcast and all your work. I would like to know more about hormones and ovarian and breast cancer. I have the impression that my parents generation has much more than my grandparents. My Mum and a number of friends in our relatively small circle have had one of those, but they didn’t have any antecedents. I would like to know what the science is showing about: Vitamin D, resveratrol, crucíferos vegetables…and how can I prevent it. Thanks a lot.
Question: Is there any current evidence regarding how long-term calorie restriction impacts TSH levels and/or conversion of T4 to T3?
Thank you
I have benefited from your book, Plant Paradox but recently this summer because of the heat have been enjoying some quinine tonic water mixed with my glass of red wine and found it to be refreshing. Do you know of any reason that this would be detrimental in keeping to your plan? I couldn’t find anything on the “yes or no lists” in the book.
I am looking for Dr Gundrys lectin free blueberry p@ncake recipe. Don’t see it on this site anymore.
So you can drink red wine while on 5 day vegan fast.?
