057: Weight gain her doctor couldn’t explain — but she lost it ALL.
Are “healthy” foods sabotaging your health?
If they contain lectins, the answer is yes.
Because these toxic plant proteins can lead to digestive problems, weight gain, joint pain, brain fog, and a host of other health issues — so you want to avoid these “edible enemies” at all costs!
Now, I’ll be the first to tell you: Eliminating harmful lectins from your diet takes incredible will power.
But once you see the difference it can make to your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, it is so worth it.
And my guest is living proof of that.
On this episode of the Dr. Gundry Podcast, I speak with a Plant Paradox success story, Claudia Curici.
Claudia started to feel her health decline in her late thirties. She gained weight, seemingly inexplicably, and no matter what she did, she just couldn’t lose it.
But that all changed about two years ago, when Claudia went lectin-free.
Since then, she’s dropped 25 pounds and has made remarkable strides in her health journey.
Now, she’s helping others follow suit.
Claudia — who is studying to be a health coach — shares recipes and other resources on her Instagram account and website, Creative in my Kitchen, The Art of Cooking Lectin-Free Food.
She’s also putting together a cookbook of lectin-free recipes that will come out in 2020.
On this episode, Claudia opens up about the health struggles that led her to cut lectins from her diet, and how The Plant Paradox changed her life for the better.
She also offers advice for cutting lectins from your diet, and how she’s dealing with a new health challenge head on.
In this episode, you’ll learn:

Dear Dr Gundry
I want to thank you for all the information you are telling us about nutrition.
I am really enjoying your podcasts and have learned a lot as well.
Have bought your diet revolution, plant Paradox quick and easy and you recipe book which I am actively waiting for. My next buy is the plant Paradox because I want to start a lectin free diet.
Was wondering if you can talk about vitiligo and maybe invite someone that had it and now is free of it.
Kind Regards
Thanks for going back to mp3. May I ask for the baseline sound volume to be a bit higher? I’m putting mp3s on my mp3-player, connected to a separate small loudspeaker (or kitchen radio) and even at maximum level the volume here is the lowest on all the podcasts I follow (about ten to fifteen that are regularly interresting).
I learn many things from Dr. Gundry’s podcasts (blogs and twitter). I have been introduced to so many people I hadn’t heard of before that are doing so many caring things to improve our quality of living too.
He had many interesting things to say toward the middle and end of this one!
Good bye spinach probably.
Dr. Gundry’s words and books were a revelation to me and have made a huge difference in my life.
I had ignored being obese for 20 years. He gave me the keys to change all of it when I bought the Plant Paradox when it first came out. I had a top weight of 230 pounds and went to what was an ideal weight in my late teens of 140 pounds. I’ve learned that no man or woman need have even a Michelin man middle!
More importantly all the acid reflux, arthritis, breathing problems and inflammation gone.
As to what I would like to hear more about, well I think he just keeps coming up with things that continue to make me think.
His beating the drum continually
about lectins and how they influence us, good and bad, and his continued research in general is so important.
I am comforted by his words and appreciate also the unseen support he must have in getting the good word out.
My thanks to all of you!
Sincerely,
Heidi Stelian Forest Falls, CA.
Sound quality could be improved.
I’m in the UK and there is more good choices here re clean cheeses , meats and dairy and easier to actually follow the PP Been on it now for a month and feel great. No more indigestion or bloating
My questions are how do you maintain a good weight without losing too much and a lot of lectin free breads and recipes ask for as much as 6 eggs fir a bread recipe for example. Are too many eggs contrary to good health ,…when is too much actually too many
Love your podcasts and have started my own facebook page Lady Lectinfree to have people follow me on my new journey. .
I would love to hear about Autoimmune Hashimotos and Autoimmune T1D and being Vegan (tons of legumes and tofu) for years until issues started. Also now “POF” and infertile but working with Accupuncture to help.
I have a history of eating a big bowl of chex mix with peanuts and pretzels while watching parades at thanksgiving. Has anyone come up with a Plant Paradox substitute>
I watched an infomercial of Dr G.’s on one of my blogs that come to my email. I think it was an hour long. I was just fascinated with the science behind the Plant Paradox. So, I watch a few of the docs YouTube vids & finally bought the book. The reason why I bought the book was because I had been having some concerning stomach problems and started understanding how important gut health is to so many problems. I am in my late 60s and had put on a lot of weight in the last ten years so it made sense to follow DrG’s plan.
Ironically, I found it so very easy, even the fast was not a problem for me. I’ve been following The Plant Paradox for seven months now and feel fantastic and have lost a lot of weight. I don’t own a scale so have no idea how much I’ve lost but my clothes don’t fit, even my shoes are loose! But I started this program just to get my gut in good health and figured I’d deal with the weight later on. But to my surprise the weight just came off so easily.
I have not found the eating plan difficult to follow at all. It’s almost like a miracle because I always thought I was addicted to sweets. After finishing the PP book, the doctor explains why our cravings go away once we stop with the lectins.
I live in Greece now, the land of great Feta cheese, sheep yogurt, kefir and lovely olive oil, so this plan makes it easy for me to stay on track.
I don’t eat any bread products now, no sweets, no sugar, sugar substitutes , etc. and I don’t crave any of them now! I will say that I really missed wonderful, fresh tomatoes this summer in my salads!
Thank you Dr G. For making my life so much richer!
