000: Introducing The Dr. Gundry Podcast
Welcome to The Dr. Gundry Podcast!
If, like me, you’ve ever felt out of control when it comes to your health…
OR
If you’ve felt sad, sluggish or like you’re in a fog, I get it.
You may have tried numerous “health” fads, but found they didn’t work for you.
It’s time for you to feel like the best version of yourself.
My mission is to help YOU live your best, healthiest life.
Here’s a little more about me. I’m a heart surgeon, cardiologist, medical researcher, former professor and chairman at Loma Linda University. I’ve performed 10,000 surgeries and hold the record of longest survival of pig to baboon heart transplant. I’m also a New York Times best selling author of The Plant Paradox and The Plant Paradox Cookbook.
On this podcast, I’ll share tricks and information you need to hack your vitality, avoid dangerous “health foods,” and balance your all-important gut. After all, a balanced gut is essential to good health — and my goal is to help you live well and — as my next upcoming book’s tagline says — “eventually die young at a ripe old age.”
I’m always looking for new, inventive, and inspiring ways to offer those committed to The Plant Paradox lifestyle the chance to achieve — and maintain — total health and wellness. – Dr. G

Dr G,
I am 63, a baseball umpire and suffer from idiopathic peripheral neuropathy that effects both feet. It’s severe enough to force me to reduce the number of games I can work and any chance of working a job that requires being on my feet for hours at a time. I’ve eliminated most sugar treats and foods as well as many processed foods and that’s helped to reduce the stabbing pain in my feet but the pain is still constant and severe enough to effect my sleep and the overall quality of life. I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations on this.
Do your Vital Reds help one to lose weight (belly fat)?
I will be listening!
Dr. G,
What a great idea you have with this podcast ! sharing is a gift of God from you to all your readers which I am blessed to be one devotee.
I personally cannot wait to learn from your knowledge, experience and research .
Bye from China where I work and follow you religiously !
I am 72 year male. Two weeks ago had a heart attack. I thought we had good diet. Apparently not. I am interested in your diet. thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you Dr G, this podcast will be something I will treasure. My wife and I have been on the Plant Paradox diet for almost a year now and are really pleased with they way we feel.
Hello Dr. Gundry,
My husband, John, and I are thoroughly enjoying our Plant Paradox eating. I would love you to talk with Ann Louise Gittleman – my husband started on her Fat Flush Plan five years ago – which helped him get off Statins and improve his blood pressure, LipoProtein A, weight, etc. I noticed in her new Radical Metabolism, she mentions you and the lectin issue.
Also, is your practice in a place to evaluate blood work. I have (as of last January) been put on LevoThyroxin for Hypothyroidism. I am really hoping by improving my eating through the Plant Paradox, I may be able to improve my numbers to get off the Levothyroxin. I have also had to get Steroid shots almost every year since moving to Arkansas due to allergies (I did not have growing up in California). I am “hopeful” to improve/eliminate that issue as well.
I am in a place where I am aiming to improve my health. I have been eating (happily) the Plant Paradox since June 10th. My husband recently joined me, and it is awesome – he loves EVERYTHING I make from your cookbook/recipes.
I hope Dr. Gundry will help me with my problem. I take coumadin for
blood clots. My INR is around 2.5. When I take Lectin Shield my INR
increases. Was 5.7. This is not acceptable. I also have a yeast infection
that goes away when I take the Lectin Shield. Help
I love sourdough bread is it ok to eat every day for breakfast with avocado and radishes
I took 2 oregano oil gel pills to help get rid of possible bad gut bugs, since my digestion doesn’t seem great lately. Now my stomach hurts, very sore Told the GI Dr. when you push in on my stomach it is painful. I used to have endometriosis but now I am 60 and am told there should be no residual of that, and I did have the lupron shots 2 different times but no laser. Just had colonoscopy that was fine as well. Stomach has never been this large, but does go down periodically. I take probiotics, prebiotics vital reds, don’t eat bread, however tortilla chips are hard to kick. I feel achy after eating many things. Just half an orange did that too. I hadn’t eaten in 3-4 hrs before the orange. I know I have to get away from coffee and really do try, I’ll go a few days w/o it then have a cup and its as though I feel like I am high. Very strange, and know for that reason I have to quit. I make smoothies with coconut milk, greens, fruit, roots, ect. fairly often. I do have eggs alot but think they might be making me feel bad also. Very achy right now and getting out of the computer. Thanks for following my story. It definately helps.
I have been using your plan since Feb. 2017 I have lost 120 lbs. I have shared the Plant Paradox book with co workers and family who all ask me what are you doing when they see me? I love the food I get to eat and on the weekends I use the lectin blocker pills for a little cheating. not too much but no one is perfect. I wonder if there is a strategy for taking the powders. I have Primal Plants , Vital Reds, Prebio- Thrive , Heart defense and Moringa cardio boost. I usually start my day (which by the way is night shift 11PM to 7 am.) with a mix of a couple of the powders, and at my lunch time around 4am I have a mix of Vital reds and Moringa. I just wondered if there is a best time of day to take any of these five powders or as long as you get them in your good to go ?
I’m interested in your plan but have a question. I had a MRT170 blood test to determine food sensitivity and what would cause an inflammatory response eating certain foods. Foods that were green (non-reactive) were grains (flaxseed, spelt, rice, rye, kamut, amaranth, quinoa, barley, oat, millet, buckwheat and wheat) most nuts except almonds and soybean which were yellow (moderately reactive). Fruits were green except for cranberry and grapes which were yellow. On the other side, catfish, sole, salmon, and scallops were yellow as well as green peppers, corn, BROCCOLI and BRUSSEL SPROUTS were yellows. All other vegetables were green including white potato, butternut squash, green beans, pumpkin, tomato, and cucumber. How does that align with your plan as I see potential differences?

Could you do a podcast on your diet and prostate cancer? What to and not to eat? You have stated that animal protein or sugar should be eliminated from the diet. Does that mean all dairy and fruits too? What about plant protein and sugars? This would help men to prevent this type of cancer as well as prevent it from reoccurring after treatment has been completed such as X-ray therapy. You are aware most men will get this type of cancer in their lifetime. Thanks for your consideration and fine dietary work. You are a God send to the heath conscious world. I think you will be remembered as the
Linus Palding of our time.
