Dr. Gundry, I have been following the first week diet for weeks now. When I follow it, it has worked. However, my doctor recently put me on a low dose of thyroid, since my blood count showed it was low, and I have gained another 10 pounds (I was 70 overweight) in the last three months. My concern is that the thyroid pills taste sweet, suggesting to me that they have sugar in them.
Any comment on sugar in thyroid pills, even if it doesn’t say ‘sugar’ on the label?
I just did the three day cleanse, and starting phase two. I see eggs are prohibited for the first week per above but OK in phase two per Plant Paradox book after the three day. I wonder if I should just eliminate eggs for phase 2…
What about olive oil?
Is kefir ok to eat?
I would like to hear what Dr. G would suggest for patients with both Celiac Disease and Microscopic Colitis. There are millions of us out there.
I see all these questions. Are there any answers given ??

Hi Bought your book on Diet Evolution, It is a great source of information, however I’m finding it difficult to work out and follow the stages. I have just printed your shopping list and that will be a good start in trying to sort out what / not eat-buy etc. You have a lot of info and to me is a bit scattered. I have to take notes on products I need to use with the different recipes and info in other places on the same product.
I purchased the Guidry Plant Paradox Protein Shake, and the PreBiotic powder. Can I use this shake instead of the recipe for Week #1?
are there foods a person recently diagnosed with ms should avoid?
Dr. Gundry,
In one of your podcasts I heard recently, you said that not all of the Blue Zones eat beans.
I can find no reference to this anywhere. Can you find me a reference for this.
Also, I know I saw either a video or a podcast where you said how much meat per day is acceptable ( not red meat) and also no more than 4 eggs per day. Are the 4 eggs part of the number of oz per meat allowed without affecting longevity.
Just one more, Isn’t goat considered red meat and I read a study that said goat milk and cheese contained Neu5Gc.
Thanks
Doug
fats (along with other edibles–including pasteured eggs, dairy, olive, mct…) are triggering my mucous production to the point where I am choking on the mucus. Persistent runny nose. I have Multiple Sclerosis and we thought the choking was “just the MS” since so many MS’ers have that problem. (I figured out that it’s certain foods and I now try to stay away from them).
But I can’t do the protocol because the fat ingestion is nearly causing me to “drown” in my own mucus production. I’m desperate. Please help (I noticed the correlation to fats and other food intake years ago). I also have ataxia and the “drunk” feeling, which practitioners also say “is just the MS…).
Thank you so much.
Hello. I have a question about the Lectin level in Urad Dahl dosas.
It’s an Indian fermented “flatbread” called a Dosa and it’s made of uncooked white rice and urad dahl. The rice and dahl and soaked separately for up to 8 hours, then the dahl and rice are ground separately in a blender, mixed together and then fermented. When I grind the rice, there are still the tiniest grain particles, a little bigger than a salt grain, and not that many of them. My husband is very worried that those tiny particles are creating lectins, because they are uncooked and fermenting won’t stop the lectins.
This is a very important question because we eat these every morning.
Is Guar Gum OK?
Dr Gundry,
I have found that the anti-inflammatory protocols are higher in protein due to the elimination of fruits, legumes and lectin foods. I happen to react to protein in that my uric acid levels rise, and I start to have symptoms of gout. Any thoughts of why I get some benefits, then start other problems? For example, the Carnivore diet, I believe would never work with me d/t MTHFR gene mutation that causes me to not detox very efficiently. I believe I accumulate a bunch of uric acid or my liver just doesn’t really detox very well. Do you have any thoughts on solutions? I do feel the best when I can sustain a vegan diet. But socially and with a full time scheduled of work and school, being a vegan is almost impossible. But then I hear people like Dr Saladino talk and it throws me for a loop. Anyway, I’m a bit at a loss. Quick background: I currently have Hashimotos, mild Osteoarthritis, eczema on my hands, had in the past lost of candida issues, have difficulty with digestion, constipation at times, then loose stools, get extreme bloated when consuming dairy in general, gluten causes gut discomfort. My practitioner did recommend for me the Paleo diet. Lately I have been trying to go with your recipes and recommendations that do no conflict with the Paleo diet.
My husband is substantially underweight. I’m afraid he will loose more on this plan. Any extra help, suggestions are appreciated. I been giving him the Plant based shakes(we love them) but for him I give it with a meal or as a snack.
Will this diet help with insulin resistantance?
how can i learn to read my inflammation markers on blood work, what to look for as important indicates and what type of blood work is recommended to determine a healthy gut?
The rest of us would like to see the answers to many of these questions also. Can you publish the answers?
Dr. Gundry:
Where are your answers to these questions? Otherwise, what’s the point?
Is unsweetened cocoa powder okay?
